Exploring the Unknown
“Connecting with nature feeds my soul”
Lockdown saw me connect with nature and address my health. Confined at home, I saw my garden in a different way, noticing leaves, shapes and colour more clearly. Most of all, I noticed nature continued its journey, and thrived, despite the state of the world.
In my painting, I tried to capture the atmosphere of this moment in time. I broke my own traditions and rules, which enabled me to discover a fresh perspective and reinvent my process. I felt liberated by this fresh approach and felt nourished by my art. I explored the beauty of nature with the magic of paint. I begun experimenting and enjoyed the process.
Becoming lost in the creative process, and reflecting on my thoughts and emotions, lifted my own sprint.
I express moments of joy, and celebrate my love for nature, forests, walking and the countryside. I’m continually overwhelmed by the possibilities in painting landscape, exploring different combinations of colour, light, and space.
These mysterious, atmospheric landscapes, have been made with paintbrushes, scratching, glazing, and printing. I’ve added myself, my personality and flavour to these landscapes.
There is much more to discover and I’m excited by the continuation of my journey into the unknown.
